This Prestwick library was purchased and plated in Summer 2016. This library contains 1280 off-patent compounds that have been selected for structural diversity, collective coverage of multiple therapeutic areas, and known safety and bioavailability in humans. Prestwick advertises that over 85% of the compounds in this library are marketed drugs.

This is a bioactive library and compounds are likely more potent. Thus, the library has been plated at 2 concentrations – 10 mM and 3.33 mM  – and each concentration is a distinct set of four 384-well library plates. The only difference between the two sets of plates is the compound concentration. Investigators can select the library concentration(s) at which they would like to screen. The screening concentration can also be modified by altering the pin transfer volume. 

Prestwick 3 replaces ICCB-Longwood's Prestwick 2 library, which was retired in 2017. 933 of the 1,120 compounds in Prestwick 2 are present in Prestwick 3. There are 347 compounds in Prestwick 3 that were not part of Prestwick 2.
