Assistant Director, ICCB-Longwood Screening Facility
Harvard Medical School
Boston, MA

The ICCB-Longwood Screening Facility (ICCB-L) at Harvard Medical School (https://iccb.med.harvard.edu/) supports early-stage drug discovery and translational research projects. It was one of the first screening facilities established in academe and attracts small molecule and functional genomic (arrayed siRNA, miRNA and sgRNA/CRISPR) high throughput screening projects from research institutions nationwide.

We are seeking an Assistant Director. In collaboration with the ICCB-L Director, this position will advise screeners and oversee staff involved at all stages of the ICCB-L workflow. This includes high-throughput assay development, laboratory automation, screen execution, data analysis and visualization, website management, and implementation of facility policies. The ICCB-L Assistant Director will also work closely with the Director to complete administrative responsibilities including facility access, grant applications, progress reports and budget management. This position will have a high degree of independence, opportunities to present at regional and national scientific symposia and workshops, as well as to develop collaborative relationships with HMS investigators. This position is ideal for a broadly trained scientist who is interested in many different aspects of biology and medicine, and who is keen to use their skills to contribute to multiple projects in a non-traditional manner.

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field, and have experience with a wide variety of cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques. Excellent command of written and spoken English is essential, as are strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Direct experience with high throughput screening technologies (cell-based and/or biochemical) and laboratory automation strongly preferred. Candidate must be extremely organized, capable of multitasking and have strong computer skills. Documented success as part of a collaborative scientific environment and managerial experience are desired.

Applicants should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and contact details for three references to: iccbl_search@hms.harvard.edu
