Medicinal Chemistry Concepts for Biologists

Presented by: Dr. Greg Cuny, Brigham and Women's Hospital and
Harvard Medical School

March 5, 2008 Module 1: Introduction to Medicinal Chemistry: It’s all about the molecules (Note the change: location WAB 341)

March 12, 2008 Module 2: Lead Compounds: The good, the bad and the ugly (location Minot room in Countway Library)

March 19, 2008 Module 3: Compound Optimization, Part 1: You mean it’s more than potency? (location TMEC room 333)

March 26, 2008 Module 4: Compound Optimization, Part 2: Are we there yet? (location TMEC room 333)

ICCB-L will be participating in a web-based seminar series "Medicinal Chemistry Concepts for Biologists" sponsored by the Society for Biomolecular Sciences. We will tune in every Wednesday in March at 11 am in the location listed above on the date of the meeting. Titles for each lecture are above and more information is also available at http://www.sbsonline.org/events/seminars/vs_medchem.php.

This course is designed for biologists who have little or no experience in the area of medicinal chemistry, but will also be interesting to those with a stronger chemistry background who would like to learn more about this aspect of the drug discovery process. Greg Cuny is a medicinal chemist at the Laboratory for Drug Discovery in Neurodegeneration (LDDN) at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and works with ICCB-L via our infectious disease screening program. Before coming to HMS, he worked in industry for many years. Greg is an excellent lecturer.

If you are interested in attending any of the lectures or have further questions about the program, please send an email to Katrina Rudnicki (katrina_rudnicki@hms.harvard.edu). Space is limited in SGM 604 and we may need to make arrangements to view the lectures in a larger room. Katrina will also compile an email list to send weekly reminders to interested attendees.
