This collection of characterized bioactive compounds was originally compiled by MicroSource Discovery Systems for the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA), the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association, and the Hereditary Disease Foundation (HDF). Three quarters of the compounds in the collection are FDA-approved and the rest – which include some controlled substances such as cannabinoids – are known to influence brain activity.
The current collection (NINDS Custom Collection 2) was purchased in 2006 jointly by ICCB-Longwood and the NERCE/NSRB infectious disease screening program.
Please note there is at least 73% compound overlap between Microsource 1 – US Drug Collection and NINDS Custom Collection 2.
