Guidelines for equipment scheduling at ICCB-L

  • You are allowed to reserve no more than 3 hours during peak hours (8am-6pm); please contact the screening facility if you require more time.
  • Only sign up for the time you will need and be courteous of others who may also need the instrument during peak hours.
  • If your plans change before or during your scheduled use of the instrument, please change the schedule accordingly so others may sign-up.
  • DO NOT train others on the instruments or allow others to use your ID to enter the lab. All users must be trained by the screening facility staff and complete the lab specific training checklist before their ID can be granted access to the facility.

ICCB-L is a BSL-2 lab space. All users must observe appropriate lab practice including:

  • Your BSL2, hazardous waste and bloodborne pathogen training is expected to be completed at your institution prior to visiting ICCB-L.
  • No food items (including food waste and food packaging) are permitted in the lab.
  • Biohazardous waste must be properly disinfected or inactivated prior to disposal in appropriate containers (if you have questions about appropriate disposal, please ask the facility staff).
  • Glove Policy: no gloves are to be worn when entering and exiting the screening room. While working in the screening facility, gloves should be worn when using the keyboards, computers and other common work surfaces.
  • Appropriate protective clothing and PPE should be worn at all times.
  • Please refer to the ICCB-L Biosafety Handbook for more information.

Data should not be stored on the computer hard drives at ICCB-Longwood. Please store all data in your HMS home drive or other secure location.

Non-screening users are welcome to request training on the indicated instrumentation; a training fee will be charged per user per instrument. In addition, there is an hourly usage fee for all instruments, excluding the Combi, Plate Washer, and PlateLoc (billed as annual access). Please see Fee Summary for more information.
